Being far from home, facing cultural differences, and dealing with academic pressure are common challenges experienced by international students. In response to this, the Technical Implementation Unit for Consultation Services, Disability, Discipline Enforcement, and Student Ethics (UPT LKDPDEM) of Diponegoro University created a safe space through the Psychoeducation Campaign for International Students: Calm Your Thoughts, Raise Your Grace.

Held at the Prof. Drs. Darmanto Jatman, S.U. Hall, Faculty of Psychology UNDIP, this event was more than just a ceremonial gathering. It provided a space for international students to pause from their routines, reconnect with themselves, and manage emotions that may have been long unexpressed.

In her opening remarks, the Head of the Undergraduate Psychology Program at UNDIP, Dr. Ika Febrian Kristiana, S.Psi., M.Psi., emphasized that academic success is not solely determined by intellectual ability, but also by a healthy mental condition. She highlighted that an inclusive environment is a crucial foundation for students to grow and thrive optimally.

A similar message was conveyed by the Vice Director of Partnership and Global Connectivity at UNDIP, Pulung Widhi Hari Hananto, S.H., M.H., LL.M. He stated that international students are an important part of UNDIP’s global identity, making it essential to ensure that they feel comfortable and accepted within the campus environment.

Meanwhile, the Head of UPT LKDPDEM UNDIP, Annastasia Ediati, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D., underlined the importance of mental readiness in facing cross-cultural dynamics. According to her, experiencing culture shock is natural, but it must be supported with proper assistance so that it does not hinder the adaptation process.

The event atmosphere was designed to be warm and engaging. Laughter filled the room during fun games and group exercise sessions, which helped break the ice. Participants were then guided into a more reflective experience through coloring therapy and sharing sessions, facilitated by experienced psychologists: Dr. Lusi Nur Ardhiani, S.Psi., M.Psi., Dwi Hardani, S.Psi., M.Si., and Aldani Putri Wijayanti, S.Psi., M.Psi.

Towards the end of the event, prize distribution added to the sense of togetherness. More than just an event, this moment served as a reminder that no student faces their challenges alone.

Through this initiative, UPT LKDPDEM UNDIP reaffirmed its commitment to providing services that prioritize students’ overall well-being. It is hoped that the spirit of “Calm Your Thoughts, Raise Your Grace” will extend beyond the event itself and continue to inspire students in their daily lives as they grow, adapt, and strive toward a better future.
