Universitas Diponegoro (UNDIP), through the Technical Implementation Unit for Consultation Services, Disability, Discipline Enforcement, and Student Ethics (UPT LKDPDEM), organized the 2026 Workshop on Student Self-Development and Character Building<\/em> titled \u201cStrategic Perspectives from Heads of Study Programs across Universitas Diponegoro\u201d<\/em> on Friday (February 6, 2026) at the 3rd Floor Hall of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), UNDIP Tembalang.<\/p>\n

This workshop served as a strategic initiative by UPT LKDPDEM to strengthen student character development programs that are more adaptive to current dynamics, particularly in the era of digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI).<\/p>\n

Representing the Vice Rector I for Academic and Student Affairs, the Vice Director of Student and Alumni Services, Dr. Ir. Abdul Syakur, S.T., M.T., IPU., officially opened the event and delivered keynote remarks. In his speech, he emphasized that UNDIP has designed the COMPLETE<\/em> competency framework as the foundation for its graduates, ensuring they are not only academically excellent but also possess professional character, leadership qualities, and strong entrepreneurial skills.<\/p>\n

The workshop was attended by Vice Deans for Academic Affairs from various Faculties\/Schools, Heads of Study Programs, and other key stakeholders within UNDIP. The event also featured two distinguished speakers: Annastasia Ediati, S.Psi., M.Sc., Ph.D., Psychologist, Head of UPT LKDPDEM UNDIP, and Ir. Daud Samsudewa, S.Pt., M.Si., Ph.D., IPM from the UNDIP PENDIKAR Task Force Team.<\/p>\n

In her presentation titled \u201cGen Z and Its Challenges in the Era of AI,\u201d<\/em> Annastasia Ediati, Ph.D., highlighted the need to reformulate character education programs that have been implemented for over two decades into more relevant self-development and character-building programs aligned with current student realities and labor market demands. Evaluation results indicate that previous approaches tended to be top-down<\/em>, unevenly implemented, and less effective, while the challenges faced by today\u2019s students are increasingly complex.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Daud Samsudewa, Ph.D., in his session \u201cSoft Skills Trends in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,\u201d<\/em> emphasized that strengthening soft skills is a key component of higher education. He noted that university education should not only focus on academic knowledge transfer but also on developing essential non-technical competencies.<\/p>\n

\u201cHigher education is not only about delivering academic content, but also about shaping soft skills. The challenge is to produce graduates who are adaptive, creative, capable of problem-solving, able to collaborate and communicate effectively, and equipped with leadership, work ethics, and time management skills,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

In addition to the presentations, the workshop included group discussions, an evaluation of the previous PENDIKAR program implementation, and presentations of discussion outcomes from each group. These results are expected to serve as a foundation for policy formulation and the development of more contextual, inclusive, and sustainable student self-development and character-building programs at UNDIP.<\/p>\n
